The 2024 school year finally comes to a close after months of waiting around for the seniors. For me, I could not wait to leave.
My senior year started during the summer with 5 a.m. workouts for football almost every single day. Some will say that I wasted my summer, however, if I could, I would do it all over again.
There were days that I woke up and couldn’t imagine enduring a Coach Cano work out, but in hindsight those were the most enjoyable days of my summer.
Football season caused my fall to feel like it flew past. Thankfully, as the season ended, I got the chance to lead Kairos 165. This was the highlight of my senior year.
The best part was that I got to experience this Kairos with my brother. I can’t exactly put into words what happened on Kairos 165, but what I can say is that I left with my brother and came back with my best friend.
As winter came, the basketball season started. I was finally able to join the Crusader Crazies after watching them cheer for us all football season. My two favorite games to be a Crazy were against that school down Pulaski and Mount Carmel.
Just as fast as winter came, it ended. For me, I was so excited because this meant one thing, baseball season. The season, however, did not start out as planned.
The season has been full of ups and downs, but I would not trade it for a single thing. Memories like walking off Mount Carmel, and beating the number one team in Kentucky will be forever engraved in my mind.
The best part is still yet to come. Playoffs are right around the corner, and everyone knows that Brother Rice baseball owns the playoffs. I cannot wait to make more memories with this team.
If I could do it all over again, I would not change a single thing. Well, maybe I would try a little harder in some classes, but I have no regrets. Brother Rice is not just some high school on the Southside. It’s a family with people that want you to succeed in all aspects of life.
I will forever be grateful to my mom and dad for sending me to Brother Rice.
