On Saturday, I woke up ready for the big game. A friend of mine, Luke Hannigan, was driving me to the state championship basketball game. Two other kids, Max Griffin and Dylan Koss, came along with us for the game.
Before we got on the road, we stopped for gas and some road trip snacks. We got some energy drinks to get hype for the game. We then started the two hour drive to Champaign. My friends and I joked around and made unforgettable memories that we will remember forever.
We finally arrived at the game and took our seats in a crowded Crusader Crazy section. The Crazies were getting loud and supporting the team all game.
This game was one of the most intense basketball games I’ve ever been to. It was close all game with multiple Crusaders having great games. Sadly, the Crusaders came out with a loss in double overtime. Even with the loss, I was super proud of the team for all the accomplishments they had this season.
Then, the heartbroken fans left the stadium in sadness just to come out to pouring rain outside.
Junior Luke Hannigan said, “The rain made the loss even worse, and I did not want to drive in that.”
The boys and I were starving on the way home from the game. On the way back we stopped at a Denny’s. This was just what we needed after the loss. We all ordered the classic Grand Slamwich, and it was delicious. The food really cheered up our spirits and got us ready for the rest of the ride home.
Junior Dylan Koss said, “I love the Grand Slamwich from Denny’s.”
Junior Max Griffin said, “The car ride might have been more fun than the game.”
After about an hour more of driving, we made it home safe. The big game was a night I won’t forget and a highlight of my senior year so far.
