Hashtag 95, located on 95th Street and Mobile Avenue, is a new upbeat restaurant that offers a modern take on breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Hashtag 95 offers many different dishes from breakfast time with their French toast sticks with crème brûlée dip, to dinner time with their Faroe Island Salmon.
The owner of Hashtag 95, Nick Perakis, a Marist High School alum, also owns Rockefellers which is a steakhouse located on 103rd Street. After Rockefellers being open for a handful of years now, Nick wanted to expand his ideas in the restaurant industry and reach a larger crowd of people in the Oak Lawn area.
Perakis said, “I had Hashtag’s concept, menu, logo, branding everything for over 10 years. We had never planned on doing Rockefellers; it just kind of happened. So when the economy started going in the wrong direction and we saw all of our hard-earned money slowly dwindling, I said we need to diversify. If people don’t have $100 to go out to dinner, maybe they’ll have $20 to come out and get breakfast or lunch. We were looking for something that had an outdoor patio as Rockefellers is really slow in the summer time. We wanted a way to even out our cash flow throughout the year. Hashtag’s outdoor space checked all the boxes. So Hashtag after 10 years went from a dream to a reality!”
Hashtag 95 has now been open since September of 2024 and has slowly been gaining popularity in the community. This restaurant opens at 7 a.m to serve many popular omelets, hash skillets, Eggs Benedict, crepes, and many more items.
Throughout the entire day, they serve many different types of sandwiches and burgers including the RIP Jason’s Deli sandwich which pays respect to a popular sandwich spot that once occupied the space before Hashtag 95 took over. At dinner time breakfast and lunch items can still be served, but they have many tasty dinner items like their Steak Chimichurri, or Thanksgiving Feast.
Brother Rice senior Matt Phelan said, “My experience at Hashtag 95 was nothing short of spectacular. I had gone out for breakfast with my aunt and my grandma, and we were looking for a new place to try. I decided on the French Toast for my meal, and I can confidently say it’s the best I’ve ever had. It’s a very friendly atmosphere, and it was even better when I ran into Spencer while he was on the job. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice breakfast. 10/10 – would try again.”
Hashtag 95 is a modern, upbeat restaurant that stands out from its local competitors and has some amazing cuisine that is worth giving a try. As an employee of the restaurant I want to give an unbiased opinion about this restaurant and say it is definitely worth giving a try. They have many options for anyone to try and a great atmosphere to just sit down and have a good time.
