While diehard Scream fans were waiting for Scream 7 to come out, it didn’t meet some of their expectations. Some say that the movie was going smoothly, but the ending was horrible. Scream is known to have some good and plot twisting endings.

This movie was being super hyped up due to the return of Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard. Neve Campbell unfortunately wasn’t in the last movie and in the movie before that, she didn’t get that much screen time. Matthew Lillard was supposedly killed in the first movie, but it was hinted that he survived in previous movies. This movie was back to being based on Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her family just like the older movies that everyone loved.

As a diehard Scream fan myself, I went to the movie premiere a day earlier than it was supposed to come out. I was extremely excited to see how it would turn out, and I ended up going in costume with my cousin. My cousin and I have been big fans of the Scream movies ever since grade school. We were especially excited for the return of Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard).

I thought the movie was going good, but then the ending came along and in my opinion it ruined the movie a little bit. I personally have high standards for the Scream franchise, and I had thought that the last couple movies had been pretty good, especially considering how more often than not later movies in a series don’t always live up to expectations. The way they brought Stu (Matthew Lillard) in the movie was horrible in my opinion.

I was a bit annoyed because of how good the trailers looked and how many people said it was going to be one of the best Scream movies. Turns out it wasn’t; a few of my classmates actually agreed with me along with all the other reviews across multiple social media platforms.

Senior Connor Allen said, “I was super excited for this movie, but I was very disappointed with the ending. I felt like it could’ve been executed better.” Allen’s critique was one of the most common ones for the movie.

Senior James Spencer said, “I thought it was a pretty average movie, but I think it got worse as it went on.”

“I thought it was a very scary and gory movie,” said JJ Manos. This movie was known to be one of the more gory Scream movies due to a lot of the kill scenes.

Scream 7 ended up getting a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the lowest rated in the franchise and many have said it didn’t live up to the expectations.
