The Shaun Jacob Memorial Golf Outing took place at Ridge Country Club on Sept. 18, 2020, to celebrate the life of Shaun Jacob.
Shaun, a 1993 graduate of Brother Rice, played basketball for Coach Pat Richardson and was a 2 year captain on the basketball team. Shaun created what is known as the CAAC (Crusader Alumni Athletics Club.) The CAAC allows former athletes of Brother Rice to be able to come back for events and games and give back to help support current Crusaders. The CAAC’s financial support not only assists facilities and maintenance of the athletic programs, but also helps many students with tuition.
Tim O’Connell, Brother Rice’s alumni gift director who organized the event said, “The 10th annual Crusader Alumni Athletic Club golf outing was an incredible event. This year’s CAAC outing was renamed ‘The Shaun Jacob Memorial Outing’ in memory of CAAC Founder Shaun Jacob ‘93, who died in December 2019. The outing was maxed out, 104 golfers, and raised over $100,000 – a BR golf outing record! The proceeds will fund the new, ‘Shaun Jacob Memorial Scholarship’; a 4 year scholarship for young men that distinguish themselves in the classroom and in the community. In addition to a record breaking day raising funds, it was great to see so many passionate Crusaders and friends of Shaun supporting the CAAC – his biggest passion.”
The money that was raised will go directly to the Shaun Jacob Memorial Scholarship. Brother Rice appreciates all the support from the family and friends that helped make the Shaun Jacob Memorial Golf Outing a huge success. Rest in peace, Shaun; your commitment to Brother Rice and your legacy will live forever.
