In their search for a long playoff run, the Crusaders continue to look for their spark. They faced off against the top five teams in the state and defeated the top team in Indiana, Culver Military Academy.
Senior Keegan Mackey said, “I feel like the team showed what we are capable of accomplishing for the rest of the season.”
The team hopes to make a name for themself in conference play this year, starting Oct. 24. They will take on a much improved Marmion Academy team.
On Oct. 17, the Crusaders took a trip north to Detroit, Michigan. Although the boys played rough, they learned about each other and the skills they can improve throughout the rest of the season. Most of all, the memories made will stick with them forever.
Junior Garrett Boyer said, “The trip brought us closer together and prepared us for our Catholic League opener.”
The hockey team demonstrates an unusual bond with each other like no other. For some, the game means more, even while taking stats.
Matt Surma said, “Even while not actively playing, I feel more connected to the team and the sport because of the brotherhood.”
As the Crusaders continue to build and lean on each other, we hope to see them make it far in the playoffs next February.
