On Friday, Sept. 5, the Crusaders traveled to play in the biggest rivalry game of the year against the Marist Redhawks in the annual Battle of Pulaski. After last year’s loss, this game was long awaited.
The Crusaders were firing on all cylinders. The seniors gave an explosive start with a touchdown from running back Jaylin Green and an interception from linebacker Charlie Barkmeier. The momentum kept up with a touchdown from junior wide receiver Lucas Strang.
Senior offensive lineman Patrick Noonan said, “It was fun and exciting watching and being a part of all of it.” The Crusaders went on to win in a blowout victory 35-0.
The defense also played a big part by keeping the Redhawks from scoring. Star defensive lineman Braydon Parks ‘27 said, “The biggest part towards keeping them from scoring was the energy and excitement from the team and how we carried ourselves.”
As the clock wound down to zero, the Crazies stormed the field to celebrate with their fellow brothers in the victory. Senior tight end Colin Goggin said, “My favorite part of the game was beating the Redhawks and rushing the field with the student section.”
The Crusader football program ended with a sweep on all levels in the Battle of Pulaski. The Crusaders travel to St. Rita for another important CCL conference rivalry game.
