The end of the season is almost over and the Chicago Cubs are in it to win it. As of Sept. 24, 2023, the Cubs are 82-74. This record has put this team into fifth place in the National league, giving them a wildcard spot as of right now.

Today, the Chicago Cubs played against the Colorado Rockies, beating them 4-3. To win, Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom and catcher Yan Gomes both contributed 2 RBI’s. Wisdom’s 2 RBI’s got a 2-run home run during the bottom of the sixth inning.

After the game, starting pitcher Jordan Wicks said, “We took care of business.” Last week the Cubs almost threw away their chances at the playoffs.

The Cubs played the Pirates in a two game match up. Let’s just say this did not work out too well. This two game matchup was supposed to at least be a series win for the cubs.

They ended up getting beaten pretty badly as they went 1-2 against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the series.

David Ross, head coach of the Chicago Cubs, said, “That’s not a good team that just took two out of three from us — or not our caliber team, I believe.”

This leads me to believe that the Cubs were not on their A game facing their lower division rival. To give some more insight on the Cubs chances, the lucky number of games the Cubs need to win is seven.

Matthew Postins, journalist for Inside the Cubs Fan Nation, said, “The Cubs claimed a 6-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, a win that gave them a bit more stability in the race for the final Wild Card berth.”

I think things are looking good for the Cubs. As long as they don’t throw in the towel, the Cubs will either be the fifth seed or the sixth seed for the postseason. Let’s just say the Cubs have an amazing chance to make it to the post-season this year.
