On Tuesday, Feb 10, the Brother Rice Crusaders swept the floor with Bradley-Bourbonnais. Brother Rice beat the Boilermakers 62-43 with the offense being led by senior Joe Niego with 18 points and senior Zach Grabowski with 14 points.
Joe Niego ‘26 said, “The ball was just coming out of my hand differently. I wasn’t too worried about scoring; I was more focused on moving the ball around and creating good shots for both me and my teammates.”
While the offense was moving well and created good shots, the defense also played a huge role in this win.
Some notable players on defense were senior Charlie Wizgard and junior Uriah Davis. These two players were key on defense and stopped the Boilermakers from taking non-contested shots.
Senior Charlie Wizard said, “I was just doing my job. Defense ultimately wins games and that’s what I play my game around.”
With the playoffs coming around, Brother Rice finds it very important to play these games to prepare for the big moments down the road.
Senior Zach Grabowski said, “With playoffs coming up, we try to stay true to our game and not overcomplicate things. Our mindset is to keep it simple and keep stacking days.”
With this win, the Crusaders improved their record to 20-9 as they look to dominate the playoffs.
