Disney Plus is a new streaming service that was released on Nov. 12 of this year. With the release of this new streaming service came old Disney classics, hit movies, movies out of the vault, and originals. Disney owns the rights to a vast amount of the movie industry including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.
Disney bought Star Wars from George Lucas in 2012 for $4.05 billion. Disney soon began to create a new era for Star Wars fans by creating new movies. With the release of Disney Plus, one of the new shows under the category of “originals” was “The Mandalorian.” “The Mandalorian” introduces viewers to a whole new direction in the Star Wars world.
The main character, the Mandalorian, is a relentless bounty hunter with weapons as part of his religion. His job consists of killing, capturing, and hunting for profit. In the Star Wars world, the currency is credits, however, we see that some of the rewards he receives are called Beskar. Beskar is a rare metal that can be welded into a special type of armor, which the Mandalorian wears. This armor can withstand blaster impact and lightsaber strikes.
The first three episodes, or chapters, have been released on Disney Plus with more to follow. The show has received many positive reviews and lots of feedback.
Senior Mike Kinnerk said, “I love the new path Disney is taking with “Star Wars.” They have come out with new movies and now this incredible show. “The Mandalorian” is truly astonishing and every episode has left me at the edge of my seat. Each episode is better than the last. I am excited to see what happens next!”
