The German Club has become a staple of Brother Rice’s after school clubs and last weekend, the members decided to bring back a blast from the past.
The Weihnachtsfest Christmas Party was an annual celebration during the Christmas season that last appeared three years ago.
During this party, members have access to a plethora of German pastries, cookies and other delicacies, all for the low price of $4.
Perhaps the most sought after snack during the celebration is the bratwurst, which required a reservation beforehand.
Senior Tommy Gorman said “I loved the bratwurst so much, I decided to go home and tell my mom I wanted it for dinner for the next two weeks.”
As always, coffee and strudel were among the many other snacks, including German ginger cookies, Brötchen, sauerkraut and a small assortment of mini cookies.
However, delicious German snacks was not the only reason for coming to the party. The celebration was a great place for kids to relax after school and talk about how their week was.
Sophomore Joseph Pfeiffer even brought in his Nintendo Switch to play some video games during festivities.
Senior Declan Docherty said, “I think my favorite part of Weihnachtsfest was the Christmas music, that had been translated into German which was playing during the whole party.”
The revival of the Weihnachtsfest Christmas Party was thanks to the president of the club, Laurence “Odo” Pavlik.
Senior Jack Eastman said, “It was the first Christmas party since I was a freshman and it was a great success with lots of great food.”
Eastman’s words summed up the celebration quite well, as the party had a high attendance rate of freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
The spirits were high and good times were had by all at the last German Club celebration of the semester before Christmas break.
