Scholarship Opportunities

In our pursuit of providing a premier, accessible Catholic education, we have added new scholarship opportunities for future Crusaders who score 95% to 99% nationally on the Brother Rice entrance exam.

The Waterford Scholarship is presented to the top 90th-94th percentile nationally for entrance exam scorers at Brother Rice. The award is a $1,500 non-renewable scholarship.

Financial Aid Information

Brother Rice High School is committed to making a high-quality Catholic education affordable to students by allocating funds for need-based financial assistance, as well as scholarships that recognize students achievements.

• Over 35% of Brother Rice families currently receive financial assistance.
• The average award per family for the 2017-18 academic year was $2,000.

Financial aid is available at Brother Rice High School on the basis of need. Need is determined by multiple variables including the number of children/students in a family, other tuition the family is providing, and/or issues that may affect family circumstances. All families, current and incoming, are encouraged to apply for financial aid.

Incoming students must complete the FACTS application by Monday, December 17th 2018. They will use 2017 tax forms.
Returning students must complete the FACTS application by March 1, 2019 using 2018 W2’s and 2017 1040 return.

Tax Credit Scholarships

In January, the application process for Illinois Tax Credit Scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year will begin.  Here are some important items to consider:
We are urging families that meet the income requirements of the program to make application at both Empower Illinois and Big Shoulders. The Empower Illinois applications open Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. and the Big Shoulders applications open Tuesday, January 22 at 8:00 a.m.
Current tax credit scholarship recipients and those who were placed on a wait list for the current school year, must reapply in January if they hope to receive a scholarship for next year. There are no assurances that current scholarship recipients will receive another scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year. The sooner you obtain your time stamped reservation (at Empower Illinois) and submit your completed application (at Big Shoulders) the better the chances are that your student will receive a scholarship.
