I hope your family had a great summer and is getting ready for another school year. We have been working tirelessly to prepare for the new school year and to make Brother Rice the best school in the state. You will notice a lot of changes around the school. Our teachers have worked hard this summer updating the curriculum, we have hired eight new teachers that will make a significant impact on our school, and we have upgraded our physical plant.
Freshman Orientation will be on Friday, August 16, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the Main Gym. The freshmen will have a busy day with many activities, including some small group sessions, going through their schedule, and enjoying lunch and some fun in the afternoon at a back-to-school picnic with the freshmen from Mother McAuley. Remind your sons to bring their class schedule, and if they have not taken their ID picture, they will need to have a shirt and tie for the photo. The day will end near 2:00 p.m.
Sophomores and juniors will report on August 16 as well. The sophomores will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Gym and the juniors will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Main Gym. Students will have an opportunity to go to their lockers, and if they did not take their ID picture, they will need a shirt and tie for the photo.
The first day of school will be on August 19; we will have a homeroom schedule that day so students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. On Thursday, August 22, we will have Back to School Night for the parents. The night will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a short prayer service in the Main Gym with classes following at 7:00 p.m. Please remember to bring your son’s schedule. Back to School Night is a great way to meet your son’s teachers, walk through his schedule, and understand what we are expecting of your son this school year.
I hope you are looking forward to a great year. We are very excited to get the year started.
