The cross country team had an eventful season filled with various improvements. The first major event of the season was the announcement of the two team captains seniors Jack Antonsen and Sean McNally.

What followed was an exciting and eventful season for the runners. All levels of the program “Ran Ugly”and had great improvements over the season.

Many new freshman runners joined the team and added greatly to the frosh-soph team performance. Throughout the season, the frosh-soph team would place highly in many different meets, winning a few of them on their way to the CCL Championship.

Coach Wazio worked the runners hard, and many of them achieved personal bests throughout the season.

The highlight of the frosh-soph season was the big win in the CCL championship. At the championship meet, six of the runners set a personal best. This was the cherry on top of a great season for the frosh-soph runners.

The varsity team also ran ugly with many great performances from the varsity runners. The varsity runners were no strangers to diversity. though. The varsity team faced many injuries.

Senior captain Sean McNally said, “Many of the varsity top seven faced injury later in the season, which left us scrambling to find a plan heading into regionals and sectionals.”

Senior captain Jack Antonsen said, “I thought the season was successful because we welcomed quite a few very talented freshmen into the program. We were also able to create a strong team culture thanks to the chemistry between everyone.”

This is not the last you will see from these runners. They have an upcoming indoor and outdoor track season which will surely be exciting.

Despite the injuries, it was still a successful season and showed that the future of the cross country team will surely be exciting.
